Laser Genesis is a noninvasive laser treatment designed to target fine lines, acne scars, large pores, and uneven skin tone by heating the upper dermis of your skin, which accelerates collagen regrowth. I love the idea of having fewer wrinkles and smaller pores without using injectables—who doesn't?
A few years ago I had a crazy rash on my entire face that I couldn't get rid of with a forehead full of cystic acne. This wasn't ideal for me and it was emotionally frustrating because this was starting to effect my work! I wasn't booking as many commercials and my modeling had slowed down. My agent at the time told me to take a break and figure out my skin (so thoughtful *eyeroll*)
After trying everything over the counter and seeing allergists, taking intolerance tests, I finally cleared my skin up. There was one problem - I was left with a lot of skin damage! My scars weren't going away and I had really uneven skin tone. After a friend with flawless skin told me about this treatment, I decided to try Laser Genesis for myself. Here's what went down.
When the doctor came in she explained the whole process with me in depth and was very clear what to expect from the treatment and the downtime. The good news is - there's no downtime! I couldn't believe it myself. Judging by my skin she recommended that I get 6 consecutive treatments coming back once every 3 weeks. Okay, let's get started. The doctor cleaned my face thoroughly and covered my eyes with the protective goggles.
Next step, time to laser. The machine was pretty big, but the device that touched my face was pretty small and wasn't intimidating at all. Not sure if I have a high pain tolerance or not, but I didn't find the sensation to be painful at all. I didn't use any numbing cream and the feeling was more than bearable. She started on my cheeks (I asked her to give extra love to my smile lines) then moved to my chin and finally worked her way to my forehead. The forehead was the most sensitive of the face, but again, bearable.
The procedure went by pretty quick and to be quite honest, I found the heating sensation to be relaxing. There was a smell that worried me, but I was assured that the smell was just my peach fuzz being removed.
After the first treatment I couldn't really tell, but after the third treatment I noticed that my scars were significantly lighter and my skin tone was much more even, I felt tighter, and my pores were smaller. After my 5th treatment I was getting so many compliments on my skin that I became addicted. After my 6th treatment I continued going once a month over the year until my skin was completely flawless! Since then I have taken a break, but I'm making my appointment today because I haven't been treating my skin the best and I'm ready to get that dewy glow back!
This is a pretty pricey procedure if you're paying out of pocket (which I did for the first six treatments) but the good news is there are offices that will accept health insurance. Be sure to research!
